Additionally, Ni-MH and Mi-CD batteries continue to discharge if not used. So if you use these batteries, use the boat immediately after charging. 

Solution: Replace the Batteries

Replace the batteries and install new ones. For normal performance, use lithium polymer (LiPo), and for high performance, use high voltage lithium polymer (HV-LiPo). You can also use a high-capacity nickel-metal hydride battery (Ni-MH) battery. It has 40%*60% more capacity compared to normal batteries. Also, make sure the batteries do not overheat after use, as this can damage the boat’s internals.

If the batteries are okay and working, move to the next step.

Reason 2: Check the Connections

If the batteries are okay then there might be a connection issue. Check the connection between the remote and the boat. And, also check the connection between the main power and the boat’s circuit. 

It’s possible that the power is not reaching the boat’s main circuit board. Hence, it’s unable to get the power supply from the batteries.

Solution: Identify the Connection Issue

Identify the connection issue whether it’s the remote or the boat’s radio receiver. If the remote’s radio receiver is faulty it won’t be able to receive the remote’s signals. Replace the receiver or buy a new remote to solve the issue.

If that’s not the issue, move to the next possible reason.

Reason 3: Issue with the Propeller

If there’s no issue with the connection then there might be a problem with the propeller. The propeller might be tight or loose or it can be full of debris. Debris can clog the propeller and affect the rotation speed.

Solution: Clean Regularly

Clean the propeller regularly after use to prevent clogging with debris. We often use lubricants in the propeller., which can produce debris. Use lubricants before using the RC boat and immediately clean afterward.

If your propeller is working properly, move to the next part.

Reason 4: Faulty Motor

It’s completely normal for the motors to go wrong without any valid reason. So, if it’s not a propeller issue then it might be the motor. Check whether the motor is getting power delivered from the batteries or not.

If the motor is the issue, identify what’s wrong with the motor. Sometimes the motor can fail because of high resistance, corrosion, and degradation. In that case, replace the motor with a new one immediately.

Reason 5: Mismatched Transmitter Frequency

To maintain smooth communication, RC devices must maintain a specific frequency. For example, if the transmitter transmits at 2.4 GHz, the receiver must be able to receive at the same frequency. As a result, the device is rendered incapable of communicating.

Solution: Match the Frequencies

Check the transmitter’s body to know the frequency and check whether the receiver has the same frequency. If the frequencies don’t match then change it accordingly.

Reason 6: Water Leakage

It is very common for RC boats to face water leakage. If your RC boat has water inside the circuit board then it’s the reason it’s not working. Water disrupts the electric flow and other functionalities. It may also damage the wires.

Solution: Dry Out the Circuit Board

In that case, dismantle the part or open the cover and dry out the board. Use a dryer to dry the board fast or put it under direct sunlight.

Reason 7: Signal Interference

If your remote-controlled boat suddenly stops responding to your commands, it could be because something in the hull is interfering with its radio signal.
