Axial Ae-5 Esc Blinking Red? – [Solved!]

Rc cars are great most of the time. But. like any other electronic device they too sometimes can be annoying. And one of the most common problems is a blinking red light. And an axial ae-5 is no different. They can also be a victim of this problem.

So, is your axial ae-5 esc blinking red?

If it is, there’s no need to panic. A blinking red light can suggest overheating, a current spike, or a voltage coming to a minimum discharge level. First thing is to bring the throttle to zero. The second thing to do is to do a hard reset. And the final thing you can try is calibrating.

Many stores will tell you to replace your RC car when this occurs. But, that’s not always necessary because of how easily you can solve it!

3 Ways to Fix the Red Blinking

Given below is one of the solutions to axial ae 5 troubleshooting. If you find a blinking red light the following solutions will turn it right off.

Fix the Throttle

The first step obviously is to turn the car off. Now that you’ve done that let’s move on to the solution.

The first solution you can try is getting the throttle to zero. Now, how can that help? Because when you turn on the car the throttle is sent to it by radio.

The steering is also sent to the car from the controller by the radio as well. So, the servo will be turned in any way the steering is turned. Another thing that happens is the trigger sends power to the throttle.

So, all of this can in a way affect the blinking light. There are three knobs on the controller. The knob in the middle is for throttle and is marked with a “TH”.

This little knob sends a kind of signal to the car. And it usually does so when your trigger is at neutral. So, if you let the trigger go it will not send any signals.

To fix the blinking problem the first you should do is turn the knob to a little dot. The dot is supposed to be on the very top of the knob. After you get the knob to that point it will send a signal of “zero”.

But if you use a nitro car you could maybe turn the knob up a little bit. You could also turn the knob down. But for this car keep the knob turned to the little dot.

Your car expects you to have it at zero. Because if you by any chance have the trigger pulled it will start speeding. And this could cause the car to have accidents.

So, After you have the knob turned to zero turn on the car. The light is supposed to stop blinking at this point. But it doesn’t work there’s another solution

Hard Reset

The first thing you have to do is to remove the radio tray. Grab a 2-millimetre and unscrew the two screws on two sides of the radio tray. This should help you pull the radio tray off.

Now, this is done to expose a button in the radio tray. You’ll also see a light beside the button. That will be red if it is dead or green if it’s working fine.

After you’ve done that grab the transmitter. But before you do anything with it make sure the car is turned off. With the batteries plugged in and the ESC turned off.

On the transmitter, you’ll see a button labelled “set”. Now, with the transmitter off, hold that button down. Then turn the transmitter on while holding the button down.

After the transmitter is on, let the button go. Next, hold the button on the radio tray down. Then turn ESC on while holding the button down.

The blinking should stop and the green light is supposed to turn on by now.

Calibrate ESC

The next step will help you learn how to calibrate axial ae 5.

The first thing for this procedure is to power off the RC by disconnecting the battery. Then turn the transmitter on. After this turn, the RC is on again by reconnecting the battery.

The next step is to press the EZ button and hold it for a while. You’ll notice the LED will once blink and turn off. Then immediately pull and hold the throttle.

When doing so keep your eyes on the LED. When you notice two blinks go straight to full reverse without any pause in between. While holding this full reverse again press the EZ set button and hold for 10 seconds.

After this process is done, release the button and the trigger. This should stop the blinking.

Now we’ll walk you through another way to calibrate the ESC. With the following steps, you’ll learn how to do a steering calibration. You can also find these instructions in the axial ae 5 esc manual.

First, turn the steering wheel fully to the right. And the brake should be a full brake. After this, turn on the transmitter.

After turning it on you’ll notice the status light blinking. This indicates that the transmitter is in calibration mode. Then let go of the wheel which will cause the light to turn off.

Set the knobs of the transmitter correctly and then turn on the vehicle. Set the knobs in a way so the car is positioned to go straight. Make sure the throttle is set to zero and the steering rate is set to maximum.

Turn the steering wheel fully to the left. Then you’ll see a button labelled A on top and B on the bottom. Pressing A will increase the travel and pressing B will decrease the travel.

Once you’ve got the steering wheel turned fully start pressing A. Keep on pressing until the wheels don’t turn anymore. Don’t press anymore and let the steering go.

Then do the same to the right-hand side. This will fully calibrate your steering.

With the above steps, you could stop the blinking of a dynamite esc blinking red as well!

FAQs

Have more questions? Maybe you could find the answers to some below!-

What is the reason for my ESC not calibrating?

If your throttle channel which is on the transmitter is not reversed then it will not calibrate. But if you do have it reversed and it is still not working. Then you can try and lower your throttle trim by 50%.

What do the ESC beeping sounds mean?

If your ESC beeps 3 times then it means it is activated. If the throttle is given a long low tone beep or one high tone beep then it means the ESC is ready to run.

What can cause an ESC to fail?

Mistakenly turning off the system or the speed sensor getting damaged are two of the reasons for an ESC to fail.

Endnote

We hope you’ve solved your axial ae-5 esc blinking red. By now you should already know how easy it is. It can seem like a big problem but you’d be surprised at how easily you can fix it.

You don’t even need extra tools just a few minutes with your transmitter!
