Dync 1062 USB LiPo Charger Blinking Red: Potential Fixes
The blinking red lights on your Dync 1062 charger typically indicate an error or a fault in the charging process. This blinking pattern can vary depending on the specific charger model, here we discuss the issue and possible solutions.
1. The Battery Did Not Sit Properly
Here’s the best-case scenario; both the charger and the battery might be functional, but you might have connected the batteries wrong. Make sure to check out how you should use the charger. Red blinking lights indicate that the charger cannot identify the batteries connected to its port. This can happen because the connection is not right.
Solution
Connect the battery to the charger the right way. Before charging, you need to connect the charger to the USB power brick you will find in the packaging. Plug in the power brick and connect it to the Dync 1062 charger. The charger should come with a USB power cable. One end of the cable will connect to the charger, and the other will extend to the power brick.
There is a USB slot at the top of the Dync 1062. You can plug in the power cable there. Then, connect the power cable’s other end to the power brick’s USB port. Now, your Dync 1062 should have a stable power supply. It will charge at the highest speed when hooked to a 2A power source.
There are two indicator lights on the Dync 1062. If you see one of the indicators with a stable red light and the other with a stable green, it means that the charger is now properly connected to the power brick. You are all set to connect the battery now. The charge lead of the battery will connect to the charging port of the charger.
If the battery and charger are both functional, you will see the green light blinking while the red light stays bright. If the connection is faulty, you will see a blinking red light. Make sure the lead is firmly attached to the charger’s charging port. Push it and make sure it doesn’t wobble. You should see a stable red and blinking green indicator now.
2. The Battery Is Faulty
If the battery is dead, the charger will not be able to detect anything when you put the charging lead into the charging slot. Since the charging slot is occupied, there should be electric connections in the battery terminals. In case of a dead battery, the charger will not get any electrical response from the battery. This will set off the red light indicator.
Solution
If the battery is defective, the only solution is to replace it. But before doing that, you must be 100% convinced that the battery is dead. A dead LiPo battery pack might be identified by simple visual inspection. If the battery appears bloated, it’s definitely compromised. An inflated battery size indicates that gas is leaking inside. It could lead to a severe accident afterward.
But the outside appearance will not always give away a dying or an already dead LiPo. Get a more advanced charger that can read the internal resistance of the pack in ideal conditions. The internal resistance of a fully functioning 2S LiPo pack should range from 1.4mOHM-5mOHM at room temperature. You should change the battery if the reading is way higher than that.
3. The Charger Is Defective
If you are having trouble charging with a charger, it’s highly possible that the charger itself might be defective. The charging port could be damaged or clogged, preventing the charger from identifying batteries when connected. Or there could be circuit issues or any other internal component malfunction.
Solution
If you ask us for success rates, we can’t tell you that it always works, but one of the simplest things you can try is cleaning the charging port. Excess dust deposits can block the charging terminals from coming in contact with the battery. As a result, the red lights keep blinking when you try to charge a battery with the Dync 1062.
We would not recommend using a cotton swab to clean the charging port, however. There’s a high risk of damage involved. The safest way would be to take a can of compressed air and spray a few gusts to blow away the dirt. Try charging the battery afterward. The charger should work now if you have a clogged battery port issue.
But most of the time, you won’t get away that easily. The charging pins could be damaged rather than being clogged by dirt. In that case, you will have to ask for a replacement unit. There could be a circuit issue as well. In all these cases, repairing attempts might turn out to be futile. Buying a new charger might be the only realistic option left.
Make sure the battery is alright before going for a new charger. The easiest way to determine this is to try charging the battery with a different charger. If they charge without any problem, it’s all but certain that your Dync 1062 is flawed. You can also check the IR readings of the battery pack to feel more confident about getting a new charger.
Why Is My Dync 1062 Charger Blinking Red And Green?
The indicator lights on the Dync 1062 can glow red and green, depending on the situation. When the charger blinks red, it means it cannot connect to the battery. This could be a malfunctioning issue or simply a loose connection. When the light flashes green, it means that the battery is charging as it’s supposed to.
Final Words
You are obviously not the first one to experience their Dync 1062 charger blinking red. Sometimes, it would do so as soon as you unbox it. Rule out loose connection and battery issues before asking for a replacement unit. You should be able to claim a warranty without any hassle.
